Is quinoa good for children?
Quinoa for babies: is it adequate?
During the first months of age, it is important to take care that the baby food does not contain gluten. Gluten is a protein present in many plants of the family of grasses (cereals), which can often cause food allergies.
We must avoid the baby to ingest foods with gluten because its digestive system is not ready to digest, so gluten can cause allergy (celiac disease), diarrhea, intestinal malabsorption, etc..
Indeed, quinoa is gluten-free, but it is NOT recommended for infants because of its shape and grainy texture. We must avoid its use in babies to prevent choking.
