Sarothamnus scoparius L. / Cytisus scoparius – (Broom)

Perennial deciduous shrub of the Pea family -Leguminosae– up to 3 m. tall. Erect, glabrous stems, angled. Lower leaves trifolate and shorstalked, upper ones simple and unstalked. Very conspicuous flowers, up to 2.5 cm, solitary or coupled. The fruit is a pod, with a hairy fringe, black when ripe. In scrubs and not very dense woods.
