Characteristics of Pu-Erh tea
Pu-Erh tea is a type of red tea from China, which is made with a very particular traditional process.
Red Pu-Erh tea is traditionally produced in the province of Yunnan in the southwest of China. Like other types of tea, made from the leaves of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis).
This tea is prepared in a very different way from the other types of teas. This is the only post- fermented tea. Although we know some of the steps of its manufacture, the real process is a completely undisclosed secret .

How is Pu-Erh tea made?
The Red Pu-Erh tea is actually a green tea, which has suffered a further maturation process.
The tea leaves are stored in compressed long barrels, under controlled conditions, and are inoculated with a specific bacteria to produce the fermentation of tea. During this time, the fermentations carried out on the sheets will lead to a Pu-Erh tea with different properties to all other teas.
The result is a green tea that has become red tea. According to the maturation time, this tea can be more or less expensive (the longer the fermentation, the more expensive). It is said that some teas mature for 60 years.
What flavor is Pu -Erh tea?
The infusion is bright red, with a strong full-bodied flavor. It is very characteristic for its taste slightly earthy and smoky nuances very nice.
As with all Chinese teas, do not take no milk, no sugar.
Properties of Pu-Erh red tea
Red Pu-Erh tea was consumed by the Emperors of China for its health properties. Currently, Chinese culture still considers this tea as a beverage with numerous medicinal properties: stimulant, digestive and to treat mild depression.
Red tea contains theine (= caffeine), which stimulates the nervous system functions and cognitive process. It also contains catechins, principles, which, in addition to its antioxidant properties, help activate the metabolism and increase fat burning in the body.

How to prepare Pu-Erh tea?
Red tea Pu-Erh can be drunk hot or cold. The only difference is that, if we want to take it cold, we will add twice the amount of tea in the tea, and we will serve it in a glass with ice.
Preparation: infuse at 90-95 º C a teaspoon of red tea leaves (2 – 4g.). Never boil. Cover and let stand 3-4 minutes.
