What is acesulfame K?

Acesulfame K (E 950) is a food additive classified as a non-caloric sweetener. It has sweetening power. It is also used to enhance the flavor of food.

It is artificially obtained from acetoacetic acid.

Its sweetening power is approximately 200 times higher than the sweetening power of sugar (sucrose).

It does not cause cavities.

It is a thermosetting substance.

Food uses of acesulfame K

Sugar-free drinks, low-calorie drinks, desserts, spreads, industrial jams, jellies, sweet-sour preserves, delicatessen salads, mustard sauce, snacks, alcoholic beverages.

Its ADI is 9mg / kg.

It is considered safe.
